Words for Wednesday...Like Father Like Son...

Growing up Andy's dad was his soccer coach till he was in middle school and now the tradition continues. AG and Andy just completed their first season together this past Friday. Makes my heart happy.

The tradition continues...

...AG has started playing soccer. I'm not sure who is more excited about this new chapter in our lives...AG or Andy. :) Andy started playing soccer when he was about AG's age and played till college. Since then he's gone on to play in adult leagues and coach on the club level here in town. The last few years he's been too busy to coach and he said he would get back in to it when the kids started playing. Well, a few weeks back he signed AG up for a weekly skills practice. It's just a basic way to begin introducing soccer to kids. He practices once a week and he doesn't play any games. Andy is enjoying being able to help with AG's 'practices' each week and is looking forward to coaching AG the way his dad did when he was little. I believe this spring he'll be on a team and they'll have games...till then AG is having a blast running around with lots of kids his age playing games. Here are some pictures from the last two weeks. The blue and yellow jersey AG is wearing in the first few pictures is actually Andy's jersey from his first soccer team. AG was so excited to wear it to soccer practice. Here's to a new chapter and growing up just a little bit more.

A lefty or a righty?

Hmmmmm...how about both?

Over the last year we've begun to closely watch AG to see which hand he prefers for tasks. Around this age children will pick which hand they prefer and go with it. As a lefty myself I've always hoped we would have another lefty in the family. My sister, Meghan, and I were the only two lefties in our immediate family of six.

Well, for over a year now AG has favored his right hand when it comes to using utensils and writing utensils. However, he continues to favor his left hand in sports. When playing baseball he bats left but throws right. In golf, he prefers his left. Andy has been waiting to buy AG's first set of clubs because he wanted to see if AG would stick with his left hand before he spent the money on real clubs. Andy is hoping that as he begins to get in to soccer that he will also be left footed...time will tell with that one. My husband, the sports fanatic, is quite excited about the possibilities with AG using his left hand in sports since players that are dominate left can be in high demand. So, we'll see but if I was a betting woman I'd say he'll write/eat right handed and continue to play sports left handed. He seems pretty set in his ways. :)

PS--He dressed himself. When he wears his rainboots and shorts I call him Christopher Robin...to which he always informs me, "I not Christopher Robin, Mama. I AG." Yes, you certainly are my always on the go three year old.

My life...

...for the next month looks a lot like this...

...and this with the two American Outlaws that I love...

The World Cup has begun! Andy and AG enjoyed watching the Yanks take on the Three Lions this past Saturday. There was lots of father/son yelling at the TV. Never a dull moment with the men in my life.
