Words for Wednesday...Die hard fan at 4 edition...

AG's reaction to the Braves come from behind win in the 9th on Saturday. If this doesn't epitomize die hard fan status I don't know what does. In reality I should have videotaped it because his reaction was priceless. Either way a picture is worth a 1,000 words and this is definitely one of those photos.

Croquet...add it to the list...

If you know my husband you know that he loves sports and is a wealth of sports knowledge. (And his knowledge is not limited to one or two sports...we love it all at the Edwards household.) Well, AG is quickly following in his father's footsteps. At three and a half we enjoy any of the following on a daily basis: baseball, basketball, football, soccer, hockey, bowling, golf, and now croquet. Yes, you read that right croquet. A few months back AG went on an Alice In Wonderland kick and discovered croquet. For weeks he kept telling us he needed to play croquet and that we needed to go to Kroger to pick up his croquet set. (Logical place to find a croquet set, right? Ha.) Andy promised him we would get him a set and here's what we ended up with...

...we didn't really want to spend an arm and a leg for a set outside because our current yard is tiny and slopes. Not ideal for a good game of croquet. Besides I wanted something more geared to his age and that could be played inside. He was elated when it arrived via Amazon. So, add croquet to our list of hobbies. He loves it and currently has it out since he saw the photos of him while I'm typing this post.

A lefty or a righty?

Hmmmmm...how about both?

Over the last year we've begun to closely watch AG to see which hand he prefers for tasks. Around this age children will pick which hand they prefer and go with it. As a lefty myself I've always hoped we would have another lefty in the family. My sister, Meghan, and I were the only two lefties in our immediate family of six.

Well, for over a year now AG has favored his right hand when it comes to using utensils and writing utensils. However, he continues to favor his left hand in sports. When playing baseball he bats left but throws right. In golf, he prefers his left. Andy has been waiting to buy AG's first set of clubs because he wanted to see if AG would stick with his left hand before he spent the money on real clubs. Andy is hoping that as he begins to get in to soccer that he will also be left footed...time will tell with that one. My husband, the sports fanatic, is quite excited about the possibilities with AG using his left hand in sports since players that are dominate left can be in high demand. So, we'll see but if I was a betting woman I'd say he'll write/eat right handed and continue to play sports left handed. He seems pretty set in his ways. :)

PS--He dressed himself. When he wears his rainboots and shorts I call him Christopher Robin...to which he always informs me, "I not Christopher Robin, Mama. I AG." Yes, you certainly are my always on the go three year old.

Playing at The Ted...

My cousin, Will, had the chance again this year to play one of his high school baseball games at Turner Field. We couldn't pass up a chance to take AG to The Ted and he is obsessed with baseball these days. We finished the evening with a stop at The Varsity. AG had a blast running around...heaven help us next time we go to The Ted because there will be a lot more people and AG won't be able to play the way he did tonight.

He wouldn't let us wipe off what was left of his Oreo cookie...he looks like he has a gotee!

He had to bring his glove and ball with us to the game.

Having fun watching Will with Daddy.

Enjoying the view from the top of the dugout.

Add hockey...

...to AG's interests. Andy, being the sports aficionado that he is, has passed his passion on to his son. Football, Baseball, Soccer, Golf, Basketball, and now Hockey. I'm waiting for the day when AG starts quoting things from Sports Center. Let's face it that day will be here before I know it. (Especially, the way his vocabulary is growing these days!)

Here's a few snapshots from a game that AG and Andy watched together, last Thursday, while I organized the linen closet:
Dad, how do I hold this?

Dad, let's play!

Taking a break to cheer on the home team in his jersey.

After dinner rough housing is a nightly occurrence in our house. Hockey games are no exception. AG decided to play and watch...Mom, you can't find us!

Rough housing with Daddy is so much fun.

Yelling during sporting events is also a common occurrence.

Love my sports fanatics!

Since these photos AG and Andy have watched another game together. As soon as Andy put the game on AG went off to retrieve one of his dad's hockey sticks...making Andy and I chuckle when he reappeared with it. AG insisted that Andy take a few shots before rough housing with him. Here's hoping that Avi-Kate is athletic and a lover of all sports!
