Words for Wednesday...

So, as a small child my parents would put my sisters and I in footed, zip-up pajamas. (Maybe I should locate a photo of this to scan into the computer? What do you say Meg and Caro?) Our favorite activity in said pajamas was to start at the top of the stairs and "slide" down them on our fannies. We even perfected the turn in the staircase by sticking our arm out to grab the bannister and swing us around 90 degrees as we raced to the bottom. This was a nightly activity after our baths. A few months ago when I was shopping for AG's fall/winter clothes I began to look for a pair of footed pajamas. Partially for sentimental reasons and the other being out of necessity to keep AG warm in our old house. So, last night the temps dipped into the 40's and we don't have need for the heat, yet, so AG sported his monster pajamas. Maybe Aunt Meg or Aunt Caroline can give him stair sliding lessons next time we are home at GDaddy and GiGi's...since we don't have any stairs. :) Happy Wednesday.
Happy Monster despite having an ear infection.

One-Handed...

So, AG is on the move. He's crawling but would rather be walking. He crawls to whatever he can use to pull himself up...in this case the ottoman. Once he is up he "cruises" around and today he's started doing it one handed. He's prepping for the highwire act at the circus. This morning he was cruising around and squealing. After squealing he would then let out a laugh at himself. It was quite humorous. I should have recorded it on my phone but I did get these pictures.

I've reached the end and am going to come get you...
Ha ha...I'm hysterical. Literally.

On another note, before all of this happened this morning AG saw me sitting on the floor and crawled across the room to get to me. He then crawled in to my lap and just sat with me. Highlight of my day so far!

If you need a little chocolate...

...in your life give this recipe for Triple Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chip Cookies a try.

1 pkg. Pillsbury Dark Chocolate Cake Mix

1/2 c. butter flavored Crisco

1 egg

4 Tbs. of lukewarm water

Nestle Mini Morsels

Hershey's Special Dark Baking Chips

Reese's Peanut Butter Baking Chips

Combine first 4 ingredients at a low speed until thoroughly moistened. Dough will be thick and sticky. Mix in equal parts of chips to your liking. I prefer this combination of these particular brands. But you can use whatever you have/like. Scoop out and round into balls. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Gently press with your palm to make a thick disc...if you like a thinner cookie flatten away! Bake at 350 for 8-12 minutes. Depending on your oven/cookie size. Cool several minutes on cookie sheet to let them set; remove from pans. I average about 18-20 cookies per batch.

If desired, frost cookies with your favorite flavor of frosting.

For sandwich cookies, spread frosting between 2 cookies.

I'm a baker and love a good cookie recipe. I found this recipe online and fine tuned it to meet my needs about a year ago. (When I was pregnant! Ha. I was baking multiple times a week when I was pregnant...guess it was my way of nesting.) Anyways today I made a batch for one of our college students, Jess, because she was asking about "that amazing chocolate and peanut butter cookie I had in the spring" last time she was over. So Jess here's a batch of cookies and a post on the family blog just for you!

Dogs and Banjos...

A video or two to start your weekend off on the right foot. Blogger wouldn't let me post two in the same post so here is two posts with two videos from yesterday.

AG and Samson's relationship continues to develop and grow with the passing days. We've enjoyed watching it and can't wait to see it in the months to come. If you know me you know how much I love a good quote (Isn't that right Brent?!) and I collect quote books. Here is one from a Charles Schulz book:

"As soon as a child is born he or she should be issued a dog and a banjo..."--Charlie Brown

Well, AG has the dog I guess he just needs a banjo now. Have a great weekend.

Pulling Up...

Here's AG pulling up on the ottoman in the den...excuse the laundry in the chair. It was one of those days yesterday.

Words for Wednesday...

So, a caption or two for this week. AG's lost two of his favorite things to the dogs in his life. The first would be the fish on the right. A present from Aunt Misty that Bear and Murphy deemed their new chew toy. Nemo is going to have swim to the Island of Misfit Toys with half a fin.
The second would be the mesh teether on the left. AG enjoyed eating a banana this evening in his teether. When he finished I left the remnants in the teether on the highchair tray on a kitchen chair. Mistake. While I was getting AG settled on the floor with some toys Samson decided his potassium level was low and the only way to boost it was by eating AG's left overs. A few minutes later I noticed the teether on the ground with the handle up. I picked it up and then realized the mesh part was missing. At this moment Samson chose to retreat to his hideaway between the couch and the chair in the den. Never a dull moment. I think what makes this funnier to me is the fact that Samson doesn't chew stuff up so he really must have been hungry. Oh, well clearly it's not going to have an effect on their relationship.

Man on the move...

So I wanted to start off this post with a short video of AG crawling...thanks to my iPhone. Aunt Joy in TX requested pictures and I thought pictures didn't do it justice. So Aunt Joy this video is especially for you. :)

Well the last two weeks have been busy, busy. We spent part of Labor Day weekend in the mountains with family and Laura joined the fun. We were glad to have her join us and look forward to her coming back up in the future. While there AG figured out he could sit himself up and we awoke in the middle of the night to him talking and sitting up in his crib. Two days later he figured out he could pull himself up in his crib and talk to his room. Three days after that he crawled for the first time while Aunts Meg and Caroline watched on the floor. We all started cheering and he got startled, sat up, and looked around at us confused. It was a great pregame show to the UGA game. AG looked handsome in his "game day polo".

Meghan came up to visit for the weekend and we enjoyed having her spend the weekend in Rome with us. Bear and Murphy came along to entertain Samson...it was a full house. AG was quite curious about Bear and Murph since they are so much smaller than Samson. We look forward to having them up again, soon, we hope!

Yesterday, the electricians finally came and finished their work on the house! Praise the Lord! We now have recessed lighting in the den and living rooms...we can actually see what's going on. It amazes me how something so simple can completely change a room. Afterwards, Andy and I kept saying how we didn't know why any of the previous owners hadn't done it sooner. (Or why it wasn't put in when the addition was added in the late '80s.) Both rooms look completely different! Speaking of remodeling/projects the only thing left to do in the kitchen is put up the backsplash. We decided to use tin ceiling tiles and they came in last week. We just need an afternoon to do this project along with a few paint touch ups. I'm waiting to post a huge slideshow on the house till it is all done. So stay tuned or check out the facebook albums dedicated to the house.

In other news AG will be 8 months old on Friday. Wow. Time is just going to go by faster as the holidays approach. I have an idea for this month's rocking chair pictures...I hope they turn out the way I have them pictured in my mind. Stay tuned for that. Next month's pictures should be perfect because the leaves should be in full color on campus. I can't wait. I LOVE this time of year at Berry. The color of the leaves coupled with the beauty of the campus is breathtaking. It truly is unique. We are also going to take family pictures in the leaves with our photographer Carrie Jo in a few weeks. October is already shaping up to be a busy month. In addition AG will have his next laser treatment on his arm October 29th. We are going to also do his tear duct probing at this time. Kill two birds with one stone. It's easier for him and for us this way.

Life never stops but we are loving this new season with AG learning how to move. He's already pushing to pull up and move around we'll see how long it takes him to figure out how to walk. We also are getting a little less sleep these days due to AG's top two teeth coming in. I hope they come in soon because I need a reprieve before the next wave! Ha. Hope everyone is having a great week...if you are coming to Mountain Day we look forward to seeing you in a little over two weeks!
Here's a few snapshots of what AG has been up to...

Talking to anyone who will listen...

I hear AG chatting up a storm this morning over the baby monitor when he should've been sleeping. So I went in to check on him and found him up on his knees talking to his room. I went and got the camera and when I returned he was still going at it. What a ham. Never a dull moment in the Edwards household.

Getting ready for game day...

Last fall I had my eye on some argyle fleece to make a blanket for our upcoming baby boy. I never got around to it! So several weeks ago I purchased the fleece and put it on my "To Do" list that seems never ending. :) Since gameday is two days away I decided that making a blanket was a perfect rainy Thursday morning activity. Here are a few pictures of AG and Samson enjoying the new blanket.
